The dastardly acts of terrorism unleashed by suspected Fulani militias in Plateau State have continued to claim lives, destruction of property including home and farmed crops on daily bases with attendant effect of disturbing trauma unattended.
While mass burial of the 6 killed at Farin Lamba of Turu in Vwang was ongoing, another tragic incident of armed attack was meted out on natives of Gako hamlet in Rim Community, Riyom LGA, where a Polytechnic graduate, Mr Philip Bitrus was shot dead by Fulani militias during grazing.
According to one of the District Youth Leadership, “the incident happened when Mass burial at Farin Lamba was ongoing, then I received a call that one youth has been killed at Gako…” which was shocking.
In another related development, the natives of Darwat were, again, attacked at about 8:00am of today, 26th April, 2023 on their Hot Pepper farmland by some identified Fulani who hailed from Fass, leaving out three persons, namely, Gyang Danbwrang, Joshua Gyang and Mark Gyang injured according to anonymous source.
Similarly, Fulani militias from Fass chased away the native inhabitants, and afterward, went and commenced demolition of the houses, but Security operatives of Operation Rainbow in Jol swiftly swung into action and arrested the situate.
These are in addition to the killings carried out on native inhabitants of Murish in Mangu LGA, Marish and Maitunbi of Bokkos LGA, Kuru Station in Wereng and Kwi of Riyom LGA, Rawuru of Fan and Tapo of Heipang in Barkin Ladi LGA, Farin Lamba of Turu-Vwang of Jos South LGA.
The exacerbating security situation in the State in general, and Riyom in particular currently calls for serious action by the appropriate authorities concerned in order to avert any form of emerging humanitarian crisis associated with the violence being witnessed.
