The Berom Youth Moulders-Association (BYM), under the leadership of Barr. Dalyop Solomon Mwantiri, expresses deep outrage and condemnation over the calculated and complete destruction of over 100 irrigation farmlands within two days (21st and 22nd April, 2026) in Jol Community, Riyom Local Government Area, which occurred between Tuesday and Wednesday.
Reports from the community confirm that over 50 hectares of cultivated irrigation farmland—hosting a variety of thriving crops—were intentionally invaded and grazed upon by Fulani herders who drove their cattle into these farms. This act has not only destroyed the primary source of livelihood for many families but also threatens food security and economic stability in that general area.
While we acknowledge and appreciate the efforts of the Special Task Force (STF) in arresting 21 cows that returned to the area on Wednesday, we must state that arrest alone does not address the magnitude of destruction inflicted on the farming community. The seized cattle represent only a fraction of those involved and cannot compensate for even half of the losses suffered by the affected farmers.
In light of this, the BYM makes the following demands:

Immediate issuance of a directive or order halting grazing in Jol and its surrounding communities, including Kwi, Wereng, Rim, among others.

Full compensation for all affected farmers whose crops and livelihoods have been destroyed.

Enhanced security presence and enforcement measures to prevent a recurrence of such acts.

We must clearly state that continued inaction or failure to decisively address this issue may further escalate tensions. The community’s patience is being severely tested, and while we advocate for lawful and peaceful resolution, we cannot guarantee sustained calm if these injustices persist unchecked.
The BYM stands firmly with the people of Jol and calls on all relevant authorities to act swiftly and decisively in the interest of justice, peace, and coexistence.

The Berom Youths Moulder-Association is, again, saddened and perturbed by the advancement in the evil and sadistic strategies of Fulani militancy, which aim not only at ethnic cleansing but also at economic warfare through the use of hazardous herbicides on crops. This was carried out on over thirteen maize and hot pepper farms belonging to inhabitants of Gassa Community in Ropp District, Barkin Ladi LGA, in the midnight of 15th April, 2026.

According to one of the victims, the chemicals were applied on dry-season farmlands covering at least four hectares overnight, with the intent not only to destroy the crops—particularly the hot pepper, which was already under harvest—but also to scare farmers away from returning to their farms. The BYM firmly views this as a “FULL-SCALE” economic war being waged alongside the ongoing banditry and terrorism persistently meted out on our people. It is worthy of mention that this is not the first time such an act has been perpetrated. Last year, the same elements carried out a similar attack on crops that were about to be harvested in villages within Fan District of Barkin Ladi LGA.

The incident, which occurred on Wednesday night, has left the affected crops, which were previously green and healthy, now showing clear signs of drying up as the effects of the chemicals continue to manifest.

This sad development has raised serious concern among farmers and residents of the area, given the fact that these criminally minded elements are increasingly rendering the “State of Emergency” declared on food security ineffective and counterproductive.

Following this new trend adopted by these enemies of humanity, the Berom Youth Moulders-Association (BYM), under the leadership of its President, Barrister Dalyop Solomon Mwantiri, calls on the government, particularly security agencies, to take drastic and decisive actions to curb and end this dangerous and troubling development, in order to prevent a recurrence of such dastardly acts.

The Association warns that the deliberate destruction of farmlands poses a serious threat to food security and the livelihoods of local farmers, particularly at a time when the rainy season is approaching and irrigation farming harvests are ongoing.

The BYM further calls on security agencies and government authorities to urgently investigate the incident and bring the perpetrators to justice, as such acts could further heighten tensions in Gassa, Barkin Ladi, and surrounding communities.

The group also appeals for increased security surveillance around farming communities by the special security outfit, Agro Rangers, to prevent further attacks on agricultural produce and ensure that farmers are protected and able to harvest their crops safely.

The Berom Youth Moulders-Association (BYM), under the leadership of its National President, Barr. Dalyop Solomon Mwantiri, has commended the swift and courageous response of security personnel following the recent terrorist attack on Pwomol Village in Heipang District of Barkin Ladi Local Government Area, Plateau State, which resulted in the tragic killing of three persons.
Despite the coordinated attack by armed terrorists, the timely intervention of personnel of the Special Task Force (STF) – Operation Enduring Peace, under the command of Col. Asuquo Victor, helped to prevent what could have been a far greater devastation. The security operatives not only responded rapidly to the distress call but also successfully apprehended one of the attackers, identified as Yusuf, who is said to hail from Fass settlement.

The BYM notes that the arrest of the suspect and the professionalism displayed by the security forces further demonstrate the commitment of the command to protecting innocent lives. The Association particularly recognizes the leadership and operational efficiency of Col. Asuquo Victor, whom we regard as one of the most outstanding commanders serving in the Special Task Force on the Plateau.

In the same vein, the Association expresses profound appreciation to the Area Commander of Bisichi, Capt. Ahmed, for his unmatched gallantry and unwavering professionalism in safeguarding the vulnerable people of Pwomol community in Heipang District. His efforts, alongside those of Col. Asuquo and other security personnel, have greatly restored public confidence in the security architecture and reaffirmed the belief that there are officers who remain committed to the unity, peace, and stability of Nigeria.

The BYM also wishes to update the public that eyewitness accounts indicate that the attackers numbered more than 200 armed assailants. The attack resulted in the killing of three persons, while another victim sustained critical injuries and is currently receiving medical treatment at the Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH).

The victims who lost their lives have been identified as:
1. Marvin Dung (22 years)
2. Bitrus Pam (24 years)
3. Da Daniel Mwanvwang Dung (55 years)
The injured victim is Mr. Pam Davou (44 years).

The Association observes with deep concern that incidents previously attributed to “unknown gunmen” are increasingly being linked to organized terrorist elements operating under the guise of Fulani militants. Evidence emerging from recent attacks points to Fass and other settlements as enclaves used for the convergence and coordination of hostile elements responsible for attacks in Berom land and other parts of Plateau State.

In view of this development, the BYM calls on relevant authorities to urgently:
Declare locations such as Fass, Guava, Mahanga, Shong 1 & 2, Dian-Hei, and Bangai Fulani settlements as terrorist enclaves.

Conduct a comprehensive security operation to flush out criminal elements occupying forcefully established settlements used as training and operational bases for militancy.

Carry out a thorough and transparent investigation into the Pwomol attack and ensure that the arrested suspect and his collaborators are brought to justice without delay.

Accelerate the consideration and passage into law of State Police to strengthen local security and protect communities from violent terrorist gangs.
The BYM wishes to emphasize that all eyes are now on the security agencies regarding how the arrested suspect will be handled, as the families of the victims and the Nigerian public expect justice to be served.

The Association equally expresses confidence and hope that the suspect, his accomplices, and sponsors will, within no distant time and in accordance with the provisions of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, be properly charged to court.

The Berom Youth Moulders-Association remains resolute and committed to the protection of lives and property and to the relentless pursuit of justice for victims of violent attacks across Berom land and beyond.

Heipang, Barkin Ladi Local Government Area, Plateau State – Armed terrorists struck Pwomol Village in the Heipang District late on Sunday night (April 5, 2026), killing three vigilante youths and injuring one other in a targeted midnight invasion.

According to multiple reports, the attackers invaded the community around midnight, opening fire on local vigilante youths who were on watch duty to protect the village. The assault caused panic as residents fled into nearby bushes. Rwang Tengwong, National Publicity Secretary of the Berom Youth Moulders-Association (BYM), confirmed the incident. He stated that the terrorists specifically targeted the vigilantes keeping guard over Pwomol Village. Security operatives responded swiftly and arrested one suspected attacker around 1:00 a.m. near the Redemption Camp area between Heipang and Kassa. The suspect was reportedly found with blood stains on his body and is now in custody with security forces at Sector 4 in Barkin Ladi LGA.

Some accounts describe the death toll as two killed with several others injured, while others consistently report three youths dead and one injured. The variation may stem from initial reports versus updated figures as more details emerged on Monday, April 6. Houses and properties were also affected in related violence in the area.

This latest attack in Heipang comes amid a wave of insecurity in Plateau State. Just days earlier (around April 1-2, 2026), gunmen had stormed the Ban community in Heipang , located opposite the Plateau State Polytechnic, around 11 p.m., shooting sporadically. That incident left at least two people dead (including a polytechnic student who later succumbed to injuries) and others wounded, triggering panic among students living off-campus.

Residents and youth groups have expressed outrage over the recurring violence in the region, which has seen multiple deadly attacks in recent weeks, including larger incidents in Jos North and other parts of Plateau State.

Security forces are said to be on high alert, with ongoing engagements reported in parts of Heipang and Barkin Ladi as operations continue to track down the perpetrators.

Community leaders have called for enhanced security deployment and thorough investigations to bring the attackers to justice and prevent further bloodshed. The Plateau State Government and federal authorities have yet to issue an official statement on the Sunday night incident as of the latest updates.

Heipang, home to the Yakubu Gowon Airport and near educational institutions, has increasingly come under threat, raising concerns about the safety of residents, students, and travelers in the area.

This story is developing. More details are expected as security agencies and community leaders provide further updates.

Renewed violence has again shaken communities in Jos South following the killing of three residents in Gyero, Gyel District, in what locals describe as a targeted attack on civilians returning home from work.

Available reports indicate that the victims were ambushed in the area, with at least one other person injured during the incident.

The latest killings add to a growing pattern of violent attacks across Plateau State, where communities continue to face persistent insecurity. The incident comes amid a surge in deadly violence across the state in recent weeks. On March 29, 2026, gunmen attacked the Angwan Rukuba area of Jos, killing more than 28 people and injuring many others, according to human rights reports.

Similarly, separate attacks in parts of Jos have left dozens dead, with authorities imposing emergency measures such as curfews to contain the situation.

News Analysts note that the crisis in Plateau State is part of a long-standing cycle of violence in Nigeria’s Middle Belt, often driven by a complex mix of communal tensions, competition over land, and criminal activities. Over the years, repeated attacks have resulted in significant loss of life, displacement of communities, and destruction of property.

Human rights organisations have repeatedly raised concerns about the inability of authorities to prevent attacks despite warning signs, stressing the need for improved intelligence response, protection of vulnerable communities, and accountability for perpetrators.

Residents of affected areas have continued to call for stronger security presence and swift justice, arguing that visible prosecution of those responsible would serve as a deterrent to further violence. The absence of arrests or convictions in many past incidents has contributed to a climate of fear and mistrust.

The recent killings in Gyero highlight the urgent need for coordinated action by security agencies to stem the tide of violence in Plateau State. Stakeholders emphasise that beyond immediate security responses, long-term solutions addressing the root causes of the conflict remain critical to achieving lasting peace.

As communities mourn yet another loss of lives, calls are intensifying for authorities at all levels to prioritise the protection of citizens and ensure that justice is not only done but seen to be done.

Jos, Plateau State – March 31, 2026 – Following the tragic gunmen attack on the Gari Ya Waye community in Angwan Rukuba, Jos North Local Government Area on Sunday, March 29, 2026, which claimed at least 26–30 lives and left several others injured, the Berom Youth Moulders Association (BYM), Jishe Branch, has issued a press statement urging restraint and adherence to security directives.

In the statement, the association called on all its members, particularly those residing in Plateau State, to remain calm, vigilant, and law-abiding amid the current security situation.

“We strongly advise all our members to prioritize their safety and well-being at this critical time,” the statement read. “As an association, we stand in solidarity with all affected communities and urge everyone to embrace peace, tolerance, and mutual respect. Violence and unrest only threaten the unity and progress we all strive to achieve.”

The BYM Jishe Branch specifically urged strict compliance with the 48-hour curfew imposed by the Plateau State Government across Jos North LGA. The curfew, which took effect at midnight on March 29, 2026, and is set to last until April 1, 2026, was introduced to restore order and protect lives and property.

“We encourage our members to remain indoors, avoid unnecessary movement, and stay updated through credible information channels,” the statement continued. “Let us also use this moment to pray for lasting peace, stability, and harmony in Plateau State and Nigeria at large.”

The association reiterated its commitment to the welfare and safety of its members and pledged to continue monitoring the situation closely while providing necessary updates.

Signed: BYM Jishe Branch Executives

This latest appeal comes as security agencies intensify operations in the area and residents are urged to cooperate fully with authorities. The attack in Angwan Rukuba has heightened tensions in the region, prompting widespread calls for justice and sustained peace efforts.

ECCVN will continue to monitor verified developments from official and credible sources. Our condolences remain with the families of the victims and all affected communities in Plateau State.

Jos, Plateau State – March 31, 2026 – Gunmen carried out a deadly assault on the Gari Ya Waye community in Angwan Rukuba, Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State, on the evening of Sunday, March 29, 2026. The attackers opened fire indiscriminately at residents, including at an open-air bar, sparking chaos and subsequent revenge violence in the area.

Eyewitnesses and local officials reported that the gunmen arrived in large numbers, shooting at people without restraint. The community, which has close ties to the University of Jos, was thrown into panic as gunfire rang out around 7:50 p.m. Some accounts described threats circulating on social media before the incident.

Death toll estimates vary slightly due to the inclusion of both initial victims and those killed in retaliatory clashes. Police and residents have confirmed at least 26 people killed, with other reports citing up to 28-30 deaths and several others injured and receiving treatment in hospitals.

In response, the Plateau State Government imposed a 48-hour curfew across Jos North Local Government Area. The restriction, announced by Commissioner for Information and Communication Joyce Lohya Ramnap (also referred to as Joyce Ramnap), took effect at midnight on March 29, 2026, and is set to last until April 1, 2026. Security agencies have intensified operations to restore order and prevent further escalation.

Plateau State Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang strongly condemned the attack as “barbaric and unprovoked.” He visited the affected community, addressed grieving residents (including from an armoured vehicle amid protests), and directed security forces to conduct a thorough investigation while assuring that perpetrators would be brought to justice. The governor described the incident as a tragedy affecting the entire state and appealed for calm, stating that the pain is shared by all.

The University of Jos suspended examinations scheduled for the immediate days following the attack due to security concerns in the nearby area.

The violence has drawn widespread condemnation from across Nigeria. Political leaders, including Peter Obi, Atiku Abubakar, and Rabiu Kwankwaso, issued statements calling for urgent and decisive action to address the recurring insecurity. Religious leaders have also expressed horror at the loss of innocent lives.

Plateau State in Nigeria’s Middle Belt continues to face persistent challenges from farmer-herder conflicts, ethnic tensions, and armed violence. This latest incident highlights the ongoing security issues in the region.

As investigations proceed under the curfew, authorities are urging residents to remain calm and cooperate with security forces. ECCVN will continue to monitor verified developments from official and credible sources. Our condolences go to the families of the victims and the affected communities in Plateau State.

PRESS RELEASE: Berom Youth Moulder-Association (BYM) Raises Alarm over Threat to Activists’ Lives for Immediate Action
Date: November 8, 2025

The Berom Youth Moulder-Association (BYM) is deeply alarmed by credible, anonymous intelligence indicating an imminent threat to the lives of three prominent individuals:

Rev. Ezekiel Dachomo: A cleric with the Regional Church Council in Barkin Ladi LGA.

Mr. Masara Kim: A journalist and advocate for media and social justice.

Barr. Dalyop Solomon Mwantiri: National President of the BYM and a human rights advocate.

The intelligence suggests that a group of Fulani bandits from Nasarawa State has entered Plateau State with the express intent to either abduct for elimination or outrightly assassinate these three figures.

CONTEXT OF THE ALARMING THREATS
These alarming threats are believed to be in direct retaliation for the individuals’ consistent reporting and vocal opposition to the genocides and acts of aggression perpetrated by Fulani militants and other terrorist networks operating in Plateau State and across Nigeria’s North-Central region.

The terrorist elements are reportedly enraged that these activists have successfully labeled them as aggressors, not victims, in the public and media sphere. This exposure is thought to have contributed to the recent decision by the US Government designating Nigeria as a “Country of Particular Concern.”

The bandits have been allegedly tasked with eliminating the three activists before any potential military action is carried out following the US designation.

RECENT SECURITY WARNINGS AND THE STRATEGIC LOCATIONS:
This specific threat follows broader security early warnings about the infiltration and strategic stationing of armed Fulani militants and their collaborators in several areas across Plateau State, allegedly planning an unprecedented scale of terror.
Reported Strategic Locations Include:

RIYOM LGA: Fass & Rankum (Mahanga) of Jol Community, Shong, Diuan-Hei, and Bangai Fulani of Bachi District;

Barkin Ladi LGA: Werre (renamed as “Lugere”) and Jong areas of Ropp District.

Jos South LGA: Hinterland of Tahei of Gyel District.

Bokkos LGA: Dajin-Gwomna of Mushere Chiefdom, Josho of Daffo District, among others.

CALL TO ACTION:
The Berom Youth Moulder-Association urges the Federal, State, and Local Governments to immediately increase security not only for Rev. Ezekiel Dachomo, Mr. Masara Kim, and Barr. Dalyop Solomon Mwantiri, but also for all vulnerable hamlets, villages, and communities in Barkin Ladi, Bassa, Bokkos, Jos South, Mangu, Riyom, and Qu’anpan Local Government Areas and other affected North-Central States.

Furthermore, we call on the US Government, should it carry out its executive order concerning terrorist networks, to include the aforementioned bandit-infested areas and others that have been notoriously established as “terrorist enclaves” on the Plateau in its action plan.

Signed:

Bature Iliya Adazaram
Secretary General, Berom Youth Moulder-Association

And

Barr. Dalyop Solomon Mwantiri
National President, Berom Youth Moulder-Association

In another shocking turn of events, two persons-Mr. Dalyop Dangyang, a youths leader and one other person, all of Berom ethnic nationality have lost their lives in an armed attack perpetrated by Terrorist elements called Fulani militants at Rachi, Bachi District, Riyom Local Government Area, Plateau State.

The incident, which occurred at about 8:00pm of November 5, 2025, is said to have confirmed the renewed wave of coordinated attacks and violence organized and carried out by killer Fulani Terrorist, who, through their networks recently hired and brought into the Plateau, especially Riyom LGA and other LGAs assailants to aid in their ongoing campaigns of genocide that led to the proscription of Nigeria as a Country of Particular Concern has not instilled any concern in the minds of thw marauders to desist from their pogroms.

Thus, the Berom Youths Moulder-Association is reiterating it’s stance that Government should not only declare Fulani militants as Terrorist, but also carry out military operation on all forcefully established settlements so as to flush out the aggressors.
