ANOTHER ROUND OF INSURGENCY METED OUT ON MUSHERE COMMUNITIES OF BOKKOS LGA, PLATEAU STATE BY FULANI MILITANTS/BANDISTS

Another terror attacks and killings have been and are still ongoing in villages and communities of Mushere Chiefdom, Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State, where not fewer than 8 people were gruesomely murdered in series of coordinated armed invasions carried out on 4 villages by suspected bandits operating as Fulani militants group.

According to local source, “on Sunday 25th May 2025 suspected Fulani Terrorists invaded the official resident of one Leading Pastor of COCIN LCC Kwakas in Kawel of Bokkos LGA, attempted to kidnap the cleric, Rev.Mimak Lekyil, age 65 years,” said the source, but he decline to follow them despite the abductors’ threat to his life, which was cut by the armed fulani, who ended his life by gunfire, leaving the wife with bullet wounds while a visitor, one young male was taken. Fortunately, youths of Mbor mobilized and intercepted.

As that didn’t augur well with the kindnappers, “they went and armed themselves in hundreds and attacked the Mbor village of Kopmur community on 26th May, 2025 in a midnight ….,” killing 8 people namely;

  5. Mr Pukurshak Yilson 56 yrs

  7. Mrs Nambam Sunday 26 yrs
  8. Mungun Termang 57 yrs

They also burnt several houses and looted so many foodstuffs and livestock carted away in many villages.

The source further revealed that in the early hours (3:00am) of 28th May, 2025 the Fulani Militias continued the attacked on a Hamlet of Margif Community of Mushere Bokkos LGA burning several houses, aside the ambushed laid on people attending the funeral of the 8 people killed in Mbor Kopmur community as a result of which the District Head of Margif who sustained injury, and now receiving treatment in an undisclosed hospital in Bokkos LGA. Preliminary Report reveals the estimated number of displaced people in each of the villages as follows;

QURGENT SPECIAL APPEAL.

According to the need assessment carried out, there is passionate appeal for the following needs

  1. Deployment of more security personnel to avert further invasion by the Fulani Militants, who are bent on expanding their territorial frontiers in Plateau and beyond. This would greatly secure the areas for the return of those that fled their ancestral lands in order to continue their farming activities with immediate effect.
  2. Relief intervention such as food, fertilizer, bedding, roofing materials amongst others are said to be the pressing needs of the affected villages.
  3. There is an outcry raised by the survivors of the attack, calling for dislodgement of all labd grabbers and hired militants brought into Bokkos and other Local Government Areas in the State.
