The Berom Youth Moulders-Association (BYM) under the leadership of Barr. Dalyop Solomon Mwantiri strongly condemns the gruesome attack carried out by armed Fulani terrorists on Duru-Kamang community in Foron District of Barkin Ladi Local Government Area on Thursday night, which resulted in the killing of an innocent citizen and the rustling of livestock.
The unfortunate incident occurred at about 11:00 p.m. when the victim, Mr. Samuel Gwom Tsok, 47, reportedly noticed suspicious movements behind his residence and stepped out to ascertain what was happening. He was shot dead by the attackers.
Also, over fifty cows belonging to the deceased were rustled by the assailants.
BYM views this attack as yet another disturbing reminder of the persistent security threats facing peaceful communities across Barkin Ladi and other parts of Plateau State. It is unacceptable that law-abiding citizens continue to live under fear while criminal elements unleash violence on innocent people and destroy their means of livelihood.
We extend our heartfelt condolences to the family of late Mr. Samuel Gwom Tsok, the people of Duru-Kamang, and the entire Foron District over this painful loss. We pray that God grants the family and community the strength to bear this irreparable loss and grants eternal rest to the deceased.
The Association calls on the general public to explore all avenues within the law to defend themselves. The BYM also calls on security agencies to immediately track down the perpetrators of this heinous act, ensure their arrest and prosecution, and intensify efforts to secure vulnerable communities against further attacks. We also urge government at all levels to strengthen intelligence gathering, improve rural security architecture, and take decisive measures to end the cycle of killings and cattle rustling in Plateau communities.
BYM remains committed to advocating for justice, peace, and the protection of lives and property across Berom land and Plateau State as a whole.
