BYM DECRIES FRESH ATTACKS BY ARMED FULANI TERRORISTS TARGETING BEROM LIVES AND LIVELIHOODS

The Berom Youth Moulders-Association (BYM), under the leadership of Dalyop Solomon Mwantiri Esq. is deeply saddened by fresh attacks by armed Fulani terrorists on Berom communities in Radura and Kugot villages of Fan District, Barkin Ladi LGA, and Fang Village of Bachi District, Riyom LGA.At about 11:25 p.m. on 28 August 2026, Chuwang Danjuma, 36, and Istifanus Danladi, 22, were killed at Radura Village.Their deaths are more than statistics; they were sons, friends and members of families now left to mourn lives that should never have been lost.

At Kugot, 13 cattle belonging to a native were rustled, further exposing the growing threat to the livelihoods of our people.

Also, at about 7:30 p.m. on 28 August 2026, Mrs Helen John, 50, was killed at Fang Village in Bachi District, Riyom LGA.

The BYM is deeply concerned that these attacks increasingly target not only human lives but also the economic means through which families survive.

What is particularly worrisome is the continued reactive approach to security, where interventions over the years often come after lives have been lost and property have already been destroyed. How many more families must bury their loved ones before proactive security becomes a priority?

What is the constitutional responsibility of government if not to protect the lives and property of its citizens?

The BYM calls on the Federal and Plateau State Governments and security agencies to move beyond condemnations and adopt intelligence-led, proactive measures to prevent attacks by terrorists.

The BYM insists that justice, protection and accountability are non-negotiable in a democratic society.

We extend our deepest condolences to the families of those killed in the recent attacks and stand firmly with the affected communities.

The time for reactive security is over; citizens deserve protection and not condolences after the next tragedy.
