TWO PERSONS KILLED AT MINING SITE IN FAN DISTRICT OF BARKIN LADI LGA

The Berom Youth Moulders-Association (BYM) is deeply saddened by the tragic loss of two young persons, Nathan Yakubu Chollom, aged 25 and Lucky Gyang Pam, aged 23, while Mr Daweng Amos sustained varying degrees of injury as a result of act of violence meted out on the unsuspecting natives last night, 6th March, 2024 at a mining site in Fan District of Barkin Ladi Local Government Area (LGA) by suspected Fulani militants.

The injured person is currently receiving treatment at JUTH.

The BYM condemns this terror, and also calls on the authorities to swiftly conduct a discreet investigation into the incident so as to identify the perpetrators, and bring them to justice.

We also urge the Government at all levels to expedite efforts to improve on safety measures at mining sites in the Barkin Ladi LGA and other affected areas.

As an Association, we appeal to Plateau State Government to step into the aid of the deceased families as well as the injured at this difficult time. We also wish Daweng Amos a speedy recovery.

We implore the government, non-governmental organizations, and community leaders to work together to address the root causes of this violence and promote peace, stability, and prosperity for the people of Barkin Ladi LGA and beyond.
