At about 8:21pm of May 5th, 2019, Kpang village of Haipang District in Barkin Ladi LGA of Plateau State was invaded by suspected armed Fulani militants resulting to killing of two locals namely “James Pam Deme aged 16 and Favour John aged 14 while two women by name Mrs. ….. and ……..sustained fatal degrees of injuries” as narrated by Mr. Rwang Tengwong who was contacted by Dalyop Solomon Mwantiri, Esq. It’s also reported that the two injured victims are on admission at Plateau State Specialist Hospital and Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH). Cows belonging Mr. Datok of Rakpang village were rustled by another gang of the attackers who are said to had stormed the two villages with sophisticated arms used in the attacks which lasted for over Twenty minutes with no security response for possible intervention to rescue the barbaric situation that was meted out on the helpless locals.
The deceased one of whom died in the hospital have all been buried at the village burial ground.
Vigilante as well as locals have been urged to intensify vigilance and report any suspicious movement to the appropriate authorities. On the other hand, Government at all levels are to rise up to the challenge by ensuring adequate protection of human lives and property as statutorily mandated. In the same vein, necessary measures should be set in motion to fish out the perpetrators of the inhumanity.
