THE PRESS RELEASE OF THE BEROM YOUTHS MOULDER-ASSOCIATION (BYM) COMDEMNS ANOTHER KILLING & FARMLANDS DESTRUCTIONS BY ARMED FULANI, 20TH AUGUST, 2025

The Berom Youths Moulder-Association (BYM) is, again, saddened by another attack through ambush laid at the bridge of Wereng Community, Riyom LGA from Farin Lamba by suspected Fulani militants and bandit elements at about 7:00pm of August 18, 2025, engulfing the life of Mr. Bitrus Yakubu Sunday while Pam Davou Dalyop sustained fatal injuries as Gyang as Joseph Joshua Gyang narrowly escaped.

In another related incident, the inhabitants of Jol, Tahoss, Wereng-Camp and Lwa Communities have continued to suffer willful destruction and alarming mischievous grazing perpetrated by armed Fulani militants, aiming at unleashing their usual terror and crippling food security of our people.

These, amongst other happenings are the experiences of our people in that general area which have defied State and Local Government efforts to end the orchestral violence against unsuspecting hamlets, villages and communities which are hereby condemned.

In view of the persistency of the terror usually carry out during and after unfettered grazing, the BYM is calling on relevant bodies, in conjunction with local authorities, to create buffer-zones for grazing as a panacea reducing an abuse of the activities by criminal inclined individuals.

Since killer-Fulani and their networks have, by their persistent conduct, vowed not to desist from their carnage and other related activities despite promising the current administration that they will stop attacks, killings and farmlands destructions, we urge our people to continue exhibiting peaceful disposition but report to security agents any incidents as well as suspicious movements. In the same vein, the BYM is imploring everyone to avoid late evening hours movements but instead, keep watching their environment against any form of aggression.

We equally call for discreet investigation into the matters aforementioned so as to identify the culprits to serve the course of justice.
