Plateau Community in tears by gruesome murder of native inhabitants of Rawuru in Fan District of Barkin Ladi LGA by suspected Fulani Militias despite early warning message given prior to the invasion that claimed at least, 8 people.
According to one of the survivors on anonymity, “at about 11:00pm of 16th June, 2023 after receiving an early warning signal that Rawuru and Nafan amongst other villages will be invaded by Fulani Militias who are said to have been coming on motorbikes, the attackers in hundreds surrounded the entire village, positioning themselves at exit routes and had a field day with no security intervention until after the whole killings before we saw the coming of Operation Safe Haven-OPSH'” he said.


Amongst the mourners at the mass funeral service include Hon. Philip Jwe, member representing Barkin Ladi LGA at the Plateau State House of Assembly, the Council Chairman of Barkin Ladi LGA, Hon. Danjuma Dakim and other dignitaries who paid a last respect to the deceased persons, and call for calmness but intensify vigilance to avoid the recurrence of same.
Those killed are;-
1. Laraba Bature, 68 years,
2. Nerat Solomon, 2 years,
3. Saratu Iliya, 50
4. Ephraim Iliya, 305. Linda Elisha
6. Nanbal Yakubu, 37
7. Teyei Elisha, 6 months,
while other two are missing as search for their whereabout is being carried out.
As a the time of filing this report, four (villages) including Nding Sesut, Nding Rapyam, Kak and Lohalla of Barkin Ladi LGA have been reportedly invaded and razed down simultaneously following another early warning message given out to the effect that Rawuru, Nding and Were villages are facing threats of attack by Fulani Militias who had already gathered around Ropp’s rocks this evening, 5:11pm, 17th June, 2023.
It’s however reported that the Sector 4 personnel of Operation Safe Haven-OPSH responded to the situation and brought it to calmness.
