In spite of the early warning given out to the effect that Bandits are about invading Pushit, Sabon-Gari and other villages in Mangu LGA, the people of Plateau woke with another sad news of 13 persons reportedly killed, many fatally injured and 6 houses completely razed down in Sabon-Gari during an armed attack carried out at about 10:30pm of 8th July, 2023 by the said Bandits operating within State.
While the corpses were being gathered up for mass burial, another group of Bandits killed a Vigilante, Mr John Gyang, 37 years of Rinyan village in Tahoss Community, Riyom LGA at about 7:00am when Sunday-worship was about commencing.
On visit to Rinyan, ECCVN gathers that, “we were about starting Church-service, not knowing that the attackers had already pinned down to possibly invade during service hours, Mr John Gyang, and another were on surveillance to guard against any attack by Fulani bandit suspected from Bangai… shockingly, we heard gunshots at the outskirt of the village..” which claims the life of John, whose corpse has been evacuated to the mortuary by Nigeria’s Police Force of Riyom Divisional Headquarters said one of the native inhabitants under the condition of anonymity.
As at the time of filing this report, the general areas are still tense as though security agents are believed to be on top of the situation.
