BEROM YOUTHS MOULDER-ASSOCIATION CONDENMS THE KILLINGS OF ITS MEMBERS IN BARKIN LADI LGA

The National body of Berom Youths Moulder-Association (BYM) under the leadership of Barr Dalyop Solomon Mwantiri expresses its sadness over the attack and ambush laid by suspected Fulani militants and bandits that sent Mr Moses Dalyop, aged 28 and his friend, Samuel Yakubu, aged 26 to their early grave on the 18th February, 2024 at about 7:30pm.

The terror attacks and the ambush are said some of the modus operandi of the armed Fulani, bandits and their cohorts to continue killing and dispossess traditional landowners of their ancestry.

This, amongst other terrorist activities of the Fulani and bandits is hereby condemned in its entirety, and we call on the relevant authorities to rise up to their statutory responsibility to halt the recurring decimals of act of terrorism being meted out on Plateau hamlets, villages and Communities.

Following the recent attacks, killings, loss of valuables, disruption of livelihoods and alarming displacements in addition to the early warning signals about the planned terror onslaughts, the BYM unequivocally states that since the terrorist elements have continued to ravage hamlets, villages and Communities on the Plateau, especially Berom land, Government is hereby pleaded to legalize acquisition of firearms by Communities under the supervision of Nigerian Police Force to safeguard themselves before we are all extinct, for this is believed to be an accelerated “Ethnic Cleansing” mission of the jihadist expeditions not only on the Plateau, but Nigeria at large.

We, therefore, call for more pragmatic measures by both the Federal and State Government towards deradicalization of the attackers as they, by their ceaseless invasive tendencies, appear to frustrate all meaningful effort of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Barr Caleb Mutfwang towards having a peaceful and prosperous Country, especially Plateau rather than just rhetorics of media condemnation of the dastardly act of the killers, whom the BYM calls for immediate investigation and arrest of the perpetrators of these crimes committed.

The organization also calls on local and International bodies to come to the aid of these young widows of Fulani invasions.

Finally, we call on all youths to eschew violence by embracing peace, but rise up in self-defense thorough intense vigilance against any act of aggression. We equally use this medium to appeal for synergy with security agents on ground, particularly in early warning sharing timeously so that there can be early response from appropriate bodies (security agents)
