Plateau State was seen to have had 3 weeks relative peace until last night when 3 youths of Kum village in Riyom LGA of Plateau State are reported to have been ambushed by suspected Fulani militias along Riyom-Kum road at about 9:00pm of 7th March, 2021. As a result, one Mr Bitrus Chollom, aged 36 was hacked dead while Isaac David and Emmanuel Davou miraculously escaped the onslaught.
It’s gathered that the deceased person left his wife, Mrs Esther Bitrus and 4 children namely, Tiss Bitrus, 12, Peace Bitrus 10, Obed Bitrus 8, and Mafeng Btrus 5 year old.
Youth leader of Kum village, Mr. Tengwong Dalyop condemned the attack on innocent locals who were returning from Riyom to Kum, saying, “we have been struck with another tragic incident by suspected Fulani militias who ambushed and killed one of our youth last night again. The Fulani have continued attacking and killing our people without any form of provocation and in spite of security matching order by the Commissioner of Police that there should never be any form of aggression again” he said.
This came up after displacement of hundreds and several lives lost to the aggression unleashed on native inhabitants of Irigwe ethnic nationality by the killer Fulani militias just within last two months.
It’s further gathered that the Divisional Police Headquarters of Riyom has been informed about the incident, waiting for needed action such as invitation of leadership of the attacking side by the Police Force for interrogation and other necessary actions as unanimously agreed at a security meeting held on the 10th February, 2021.
