At about 8:30am of today, 7th October, 2023, Fulani Militias attacked and shot dead one Mr. Ezekiel Dachomo of Sopp in Riyom LGA, Plateau State.
According to local source, “the deceased went to help fetching firewood while anticipating his wife to go and join him after women’s fellowship, not known that armed Fulani had already shot dead her husband. On approaching where the lifeless body of Mr Ezekiel was, his wife and other women overheard gunfiring by Fulani..” which instilled apprehension in the women, who spotted the deceased, and alerted people including security agents, who have swung into action, said the source.
At the time of filing this report, there’s high apprehension in the people of Sopp, and are appealing for more drastic security measures to get the perpetrators arrested, dislodgement of Fulani and suspected Bandits that have not only grabbed lands within the general area, but also terrorizing native inhabitants and other innocent people around Sopp and its environs.
The incident is said to be another round of provocation by the Fulani, who are bent on renewal of terrorism to make the frantic efforts of Gen. Abdulsalam Abubakar and his supporting officers futile.
From security source, some Cows suspected to belong to the suspects have already been apprehended, and that no stone will be left unturned. Thus, there should be calmness as security agents, particularly Operation Safe Haven-OPSH is assiduously working to decisively deal with the perpetrators who are being trailed at the moment.
