CURBING DOWN THE RISING SECURITY CHALLENGES IN RIYOM LGA AND ITS ENVIRONS

Following the recent violence that erupted in villages and communities of Riyom LGA and beyond, it has been resolved during and directed during on-the-spot assessment at incident scenes and locations that-

1. Movement of people from one village/Hamlet to another is hereby restricted by 5:30pm

2. Early hours movement be stopped, too

3. Socio-economic activities including farming and mining put on halt pending improvement on security situation

4. Grazing activities suspended in and around Jol, Wereng, Rinyan, etc

5. All Cows must be at their respective owners’ residence by 5:30pm

6. All drinking joints & provision shops must close by 5:30pm

7. Harvest should be organized and carried out under security cover. This, it shouldn’t be in isolation

8. All commuters and people playing Bachi-Rim road should confirm the presence of security along that route before using it

9. Rim-Tanjol road be avoided against possible ambush

10. Sho-Jol road be not plied until when there’s presence of security, and should not be used after 5:30pm

11. Vigilante groups are to organize themselves and work alongside the military personnel in the enforcement of the restriction order.

12. Surveillance points be manned by vigilante as suspicious movement be immediately reported to security agents

13. Motorcycle overloading is prohibited

14. Keeping of dreadlocks sales of hard drugs and illicit substances are hereby banned

15. All markets are to close by 4:00pm to enable people return home safety and within time permitted for movement

16. Any atack on cattles, persons or farmland would attract serious action including litigation.

17. Community leadership would be responsible for any act of violence/attack
