PLATEAU KILLING; FULANI MILITIAS ATTACK IDPs RESETTLMENT SITE UNDER CONSTRUCTION

Another tragic incident has been witness in Rantis village of Gashish District, Barkin Ladi LGA in Plateau State, where Internally Displaced Persons of Rantis were attacked at about 3:30pm of 6th April, 2022. As a result, 2 persons have been confirmed dead while 3 others sustained fatal injuries.

From an anonymous eye-witness account, “we have been working here under peaceful atmosphere to rebuild our homesteads after displaced occasioned by Fulani armed invasions some years back. Not known to us that our self-resettlment effort will be thwarted by another unprovoked attack that engulfed Mr. Dalyop B. Jugu and one Mr. Yakubu while Mr. Dahol Jam, Samson Boyi and Mr. Badung Boyi Jugu sustained fatal injuries, and have been rushed to the hospital for treatment,” said the survivor. It’s added that, “the armed Fulani came by motorcycles and fired sporadically,… set ablaze a car as we took to our heels in order to escape.”

This is one of the many onslaughts Plateau villages and communities are witnessing in the recent times as suspected Fulani militias have relentlessly terrorize residents of Irigwe Chiefdom in Bassa, Yelwa Zangam in Jos North, Kuru in Jos South, Jol and Bachi in Riyom, Pushit in Mangu LGAs of the State.

it’s on account of the aforementioned incidences that ECCVN hereby calls on all relevant security architectures in the State to muster their arsenal to fish out the perpetrators of these crimes for necessary disciplinary actions.
