TWO STUDENTS KILLED BY SUSPECTED ARMED FULANI IN PLATEAU

At about 5:00pm (or thereabout) of 23rd October, 2024, a group of armed men suspected to be Fulani ambushed and shot dead students, namely,
Obadiah Daryan, aged
25, and Ezekiel Monday, aged 21, along Kurra Falls-Barkin Ladi road, Gashish District of Barkin Ladi LGA.

The deceased students were schooling at National Veterinary Research Institute (NVRI) Vom and Government Senior Secondary School (GSSS) Gashish respectively, had their lives cut short when they were on a motorcycle to Barkin Ladi town.

According to local sources, the attackers carted away with a phone -09162947758 belonging to Obadiah which which was called and picked by one of the killers, who is a Fulani as this ffurther confirms the murderers of the promising Youths. Thus, imploring for tracking of the said phone number for necessary punitive actions.

The continued attacks, killings and farmlands destruction willfully perpetrated by armed Fulani within Berom land and beyond calls for a declaration of State of Emergency on killer Fulani herdsmen and other criminal syndicates working tirelessly to frustrate Government effort in promotion of Peace, order and tranquility in Plateau and Nigeria at large as the resurgence of violence has given rise to humanitarian crisis including food security in the affected areas notwithstanding Federal Government’s declaration of State of Emergency on food security. This has grievely instilled fear and tendencies of relocation by native inhabitants in the general area, leaving to a safer environment.

It’s on the basis of the ongoing atrocities and act of terrorism perpetually carried out by the armed group that is impelling Berom Youths Moulder-Association (BYM) passionately appeal for declaration of killer Fulani herdsmen as terrorists. We equally call on Plateau State Government to make an Executive order, banning open grazing either the whole State or designated areas, especially Plateau North.

It’s also imperative to note for necessary actions that, virtually all the attacks meted out on Plateau villages and communities, particularly in Berom land have been carried out from sacked settlements forcefully occupied afterwards. This, therefore calls for expedite action to return Internally Displaced Persons to their ancestral lands that are currently under occupation of kobloodletting terrorist elements, who are bent on deflating the unmatched sacrifice of Operation Safe Haven-OPSH under the leadership of Ge. AE Abubakar.

In conclusion, since security is everyone’s business, the BYM is calling on Beroms to abide by security safety measures, which include,

  1. Movement of people from one village/Hamlet to another is hereby restricted by 5:30pm
  2. Early hours movement be stopped, too
  3. Socio-economic activities including farming and mining put on halt pending improvement on security situation

  5. All Cows must be at their respective owners’ residence by 5:30pm
  6. All drinking joints & provision shops must close by 5:30pm

  8. All commuters and people playing Bachi-Rim road should confirm the presence of security along that route before using it
  9. Rim-Tanjol road be avoided against possible ambush
  10. Sho-Jol road be not plied until when there’s presence of security, and should not be used after 5:30pm
