In Plateau State, another killing was witnessed in Gwol-Hoss village of Riyom LGA, where one Mr. Bitrus Manzere, a Primary School’s Headmaster has been reportedly hacked death by not yet identified persons suspected to be Fulani militias.
From an anonymous local source, “Mr. Bitrus Manzere, aged 63, was returning home after he had passed Sector 6 Headquarters of Operation Safe Haven-OPSH, just some metrez away from the Military Base at about 9:00pm of 28th June, 2021”, he said as the corpse has been deposited at the mortuary. Those he left to mourn him include, wife and 8 children amongst many.
In the same vein, Byei village of Riyom Community, Riyom LGA witnessed an armed invasion by a group of suspected Fulani militias at about 10:04pm of 29th June, 2021. As a result, Mr. Patrick Pam, aged 21, was shot dead, leaving the surviving inhabitants in state of fear and apprehension as the attackers ceaselessly keep invading and destroying farmed crops of the said village and other neighbouring communities thereby inflicting unquantifiable hardships with no requisite interventions from the appropriate authorities.
It’s very appalling that, in spite of security intelligence gathered and disseminated accordingly to forestall the avoidable terror invasions on named villages and communities, no action is seen to have been taken towards safeguarding the target places or arresting the attackers who are suspected to have been coming from afar to kill at will.
